About
I’m Leann Lynnette, a freelance writer. I write for people making decisions about their homes: owners weighing a repair, buyers reading their first inspection report, sellers deciding what to fix, and anyone trying to hire a tradesperson they can trust.
I grew up around renovations. There was always a project on the go somewhere in the house, and there were always people coming through the door to help with it: electricians, plumbers, carpenters, the occasional roofer. I learned early that the people who do this work know things most of us never think to ask, and that a good question at the right moment can save a lot of money and worry.
That’s why I cover the beats I do: home improvement, real estate and housing, the skilled trades, and the local businesses neighbourhoods depend on. To me they’re one subject. A house is only as sound as the people who work on it, and those people are usually running small businesses of their own.
My work starts with conversations. I talk to tradespeople and homeowners, ask what went right and what they’d do differently, and pay attention to the parts of the story that usually get skipped. Then I check what I’ve heard. If a claim can’t be backed up, it doesn’t go in.
I write plainly and edit hard. A good guide should read like advice from a friend who happens to know the subject, not a brochure and not a lecture. If a sentence wouldn’t help someone at the kitchen table with a quote in one hand and a coffee in the other, it gets cut.
